The Steel Storage Group has been involved in the construction and ownership of self-storage facilities since the industry's early days in Australia. The company now employs more than 40 staff members in offices in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, France, and most recently, Singapore; servicing the emerging Asian market. Collectively, the company's directors and managers represent more than 50 years experience in the self-storage industry. They are regarded by many as pioneers who have provided training based in design and construction.

Founded in 1990 by majority shareholder Jonathan Perrins, the Steel Storage Group is also held by Carnegie, Wylie & Company, one of the largest and most active private-equity investment banks in the Australasian region.

Thanks to its ongoing commitment to research and development and its international experience, the Steel Storage Group now enjoys approximately 60 percent of the market both in Australia and the United Kingdom. In both countries, the company's designs have consistently won every major industry award for facilities including proprietary products such as mezzanine floors, covered roadways and hallway-partitioning systems.

Steel Storage has a keen interest in developing the self storage industry and has a strong relationship with the Self Storage Association in Australasia and Europe.
